ImmiAccount autofill vs pre-lodgement review

What is the difference between ImmiAccount autofill and pre-lodgement evidence review?

ImmiAccount autofill transfers existing case data into application fields. Pre-lodgement review checks whether that data is current, consistent, complete, and supported by evidence. They are complementary controls: autofill can reduce repetitive entry, while review can identify problems in the source record before the practitioner submits.

Disclosure: Immi Flow publishes this guide and offers pre-lodgement evidence tools. Product details were checked on 1 October 2026 using vendors' public pages. We did not test vendor extensions or review tools. Confirm coverage and access directly with each vendor.

ImmiAccount autofill and pre-lodgement review sit next to each other in a migration workflow, but they solve different problems. Autofill moves known data into application fields. Pre-lodgement review checks whether the matter's evidence supports that information and whether gaps remain.

A practice may need one, both, or neither. The choice depends on where work slows down and where errors enter the file. This article explains the workflow and does not assess any product's accuracy.

What ImmiAccount does

Home Affairs says ImmiAccount lets users start, continue, import, share, and send applications. The relevant visa page provides the current step-by-step requirements.

External software can prepare data or interact with fields in a browser, but ImmiAccount remains the Department's service. The practitioner still needs to understand who reviews and submits the application.

What autofill does

An autofill tool takes data already stored elsewhere and places it into ImmiAccount fields. Depending on the product and form, that may include identity, addresses, family details, employment history, and other repeated information.

LodgeHQ, for example, advertises a Chrome extension that pulls client data from its case file into ImmiAccount. Its site says the practitioner reviews and submits. ImmiIQ lists an ImmiAccount eLodge Chrome extension as a paid Pro add-on and an Enterprise inclusion.

Autofill can reduce copying between systems. It may also reduce typing errors when the source record is correct. It does not establish that the source record is correct, complete, or supported by evidence.

What pre-lodgement review does

Pre-lodgement review looks back from the proposed application to the matter record and source documents. A useful process asks:

  • Which document supports this answer?
  • Do names, dates, and identifiers agree across files?
  • Is a required item missing or expired?
  • Has the client corrected information since intake?
  • Has the practitioner reviewed unresolved findings?

Immi Flow advertises citation-linked document extraction and readiness findings held for practitioner approval. Other vendors also advertise document extraction or AI review. Labels alone do not show how the output works, so compare it directly.

Same matter, different checks

Consider an applicant whose passport has been renewed after completing intake. The old passport number remains in the case record, while the new passport is in the document folder.

Autofill may correctly copy the old number from the field it was given. The automation has completed its job, but the application still contains stale information.

A review process should compare the application data with the current passport, flag the mismatch, and require a decision. Once the case record is corrected, autofill can place the new number into the form.

The same distinction applies to employment dates, addresses, family details, and salary figures. Transfer and verification are separate controls.

What each workflow can miss

RiskAutofill aloneEvidence review alone
Stale case dataMay transfer it accuratelyCan find it if current evidence is available
Missing source documentUsually outside field transferCan identify it when the checklist covers it
Wrong form mappingA direct riskMay not see the browser mapping
Unsupported statementMay copy itCan ask for source support
Browser interruptionCan leave partial entryUsually outside document review
Manual entry after reviewCannot control later changesReview can become stale

Neither column is universal. Product design and configuration matter, which is why a realistic test is necessary.

How to connect the two safely

Use a clear handoff:

  1. Collect client answers and source documents.
  2. Resolve missing items and material inconsistencies.
  3. Record practitioner review of the evidence.
  4. Transfer approved data into ImmiAccount, manually or through autofill.
  5. Review the completed application against the approved matter record.
  6. Submit through ImmiAccount and save the final application and receipt in the client file.

If information changes after step three, reopen the relevant review. Do not rely on an earlier approval for a changed record.

Professional responsibility and AI

OMARA's AI guidance says RMAs remain responsible for information given with AI assistance. It also says written consent is needed before entering a client's personal details into an AI system.

Ask where the product records consent, sources, corrections, and practitioner approval. A claim that software is “AI” or “compliance” software does not answer those questions.

The Migration Agents Code of Conduct requires client files and contemporaneous records of oral communications. Make sure the final application, advice, communications, and material review decisions remain retrievable.

A practical vendor test

Prepare one test matter with:

  • two family members;
  • a replaced passport;
  • overlapping employment dates;
  • one missing document;
  • one corrected client answer;
  • one long address and travel history.

For autofill, observe field coverage, multi-entry sections, corrections, and recovery after interruption. For evidence review, inspect citations, mismatch handling, false positives, and approval history. Finish by comparing the ImmiAccount application with the exported client file.

Which should you buy first?

Start with autofill if the matter is already well structured and repeated browser entry is the clear bottleneck.

Start with pre-lodgement review if staff spend more time chasing documents, finding inconsistencies, or preparing the file for practitioner approval.

Use both when the practice needs a reviewed source record and faster transfer into ImmiAccount. The value comes from a reliable handoff between them.

Immi Flow focuses on the evidence and review side of this workflow. Try it with one matter.
